Safety Tips Before Surgery

Do not select a provider based on procedure cost. After confirming that the provider's certification is through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), you may select the surgeon with whom you feel most comfortable. Cosmetic procedures should be safely performed in an accredited office-based surgery facility, freestanding ambulatory surgery facility or hospital. If your surgery will take place outside of a hospital, be sure that your provider has privileges to perform the same procedure in an accredited hospital in case there are complications and access is needed. ASPS-member surgeons qualify for these privileges.
